Falling into Winter Series: 5 Ways to Stay Connected to Nature this Winter

Written By: I.D Flowers- Green

1.)  Try birdwatching.  *cold weather tip: watch from inside a window.  You don't have to go outside to enjoy the wildlife if you don't want to.

2.)  Get outside.  *cold weather tip: There's no bad weather, only bad gear.  Hats, winter boots, rubber boots, scarves, jackets, coats.  I can go on and on but you know what you need to do!

3.)  Living decorations.  I'll be elaborating on this one in an upcoming article so I don't want to go into too much detail here.  The benefits are endless.  Now's the time to use your imagination.  The sky's the limit, literally.   The aromas of nature are worth it.  Did I mention how much easier it is to decorate for the holidays using nature?  I'll touch on this and so much more later.....onto number 4.

4.)  Sunrise and sunset tracking or simulating.  Did you know that most stores carry sunrise simulators that improve your sleep patterns and mood?  Not into tech?  You can always track sun up and sun down the same way our ancestors did.  All it takes is a little extra paying attention to your morning and evening routine. I might do an article on this one too at some point if you guys express some interest in the comments.

5.)  Explore seasonal aromas.  Never underestimate the sensual nostalgia of your favorite holiday treat, your living decor, or the numerous herbal aromas all around you.

  1. That's a pretty cool idea, understanding how the sun works in corolation to your sleep. I know that a good sleep schedule is waking up when the suns up and go to bed once it's dark. The sun can heavily affect the way you feel after you sleep.

Mary Jane Slipper Crochet Pattern

Back in 2009 I made my very own crochet pattern for these cutie little Mary Jane style slippers. Etsy Shop: Pattern Here Today I finally brought my pattern back to my Etsy Shop.  The number of reviews, favorites, and sales on this pattern was astonishing and I think that bringing it back and revamping it for 2019 is a great idea!
